May 1, 2009 (Arlington, VA))— Reflecting updated appearances and technological advancements, the cast polymer industry has joined forces to give its traditional products—including cultured marble, granite and onyx, as well as solid surfaces—a new name. The new name, MasterCast Engineered Composites (or just MasterCast), made its national debut at the Kitchen & Bath Show (K/BIS) May 1-3 in Atlanta.
"MasterCast products allow total freedom of design with few limitations. Custom shapes, unique designs and colors set MasterCast apart from other materials. Even integral bowls or splashes can be incorporated into a kitchen or bath design in either matching or contrasting color or texture. Because of the cast polymer manufacturing process, MasterCast products have no visible seams or grout lines. They are easy to clean and maintain—requiring no sealants," says Dirk De Vuyst, International Marble Industries, Woodstock, Ga., who serves as President of the International Cast Polymer Alliance, which represents MasterCast manufacturers.
Used extensively in both residential and commercial applications, where they are incorporated into traditional kitchen and bath installations such as countertops, sinks and vanities, bathtubs, shower surrounds, whirlpools and more, MasterCast products also can include matching floor tiles, window sills, fireplace surrounds, and molding accents. These surface materials combine their traditional durability and anti-microbial properties with updated designs, unlimited colors, and textures, providing homeowners and builders with advantages over engineered quartz and natural stone.
Specifiers attending K/BIS, including designers, dealers, installers and remodelers had the advantage of seeing an extensive display of MasterCast materials at the show. They also were introduced to the MasterCast Web site, www.mastercast.biz, where they and consumers may view a range of design options for kitchens and baths. The new website features examples of some of the most beautiful and versatile designs for counters, sinks, vanities, showers, tubs—and more—and offers consumers and professionals an on-line vendor search to locate their nearest MasterCast manufacturer.
"With the current economy, everyone—builder, prospective home buyer, remodeler, and current homeowner—deserves to get the best product possible for their budget. MasterCast products can meet this demanding order," says Du Vuyst.
